Self-Guided Tour

The North Carolina Freedom Park is designed for you to experience at your own pace. As you stroll the connecting walkways, the words of Black North Carolinians engraved in large panels honor and celebrate the importance of freedom to all people. There are five walkways and 20 engraved quotes that comprise the park, along with the Beacon of Hope sculpture.

North Carolina Freedom Park is accessible via car and I-40 and public transportation.

Free parking is in the block around the Governor's Mansion, which is adjacent to the Archives & History Bldg. (109 E. Jones St.). All the spaces may be occupied.

Parking is available in any of the state-owned visitor parking lots. The lot is directly across from the Archives & History Bldg., Visitor Lot #1 is the most convenient.

Cash/Credit cards accepted.

Several of the walkways have steps and handrails. However, all features of the park, including the beacon are handicap accessible.
